Dave's Top Motoring Tips
On this page, Dave from DR Mobile Mechanics will give you some of his top tips.
With the current prices of fuel, people have been asking me how to get better fuel economy from their motors. Here's just a few tips to help you drive more economically.
Tip 1: Drive Smoothley
Think of yourself running. If you accelerate fast your body requires more energy and you get tyred very quickly. The car is the same. Accelerating quickly wastes fuel - up to 60% more in fact! When pulling away from the lights, try to accelerate gently.
Tip 2: Read The Road Ahead
When driving, try to look ahead and read the conditions of the road - look out for anything that might require you to slow down or stop such as traffic lights or someone attempting to park. By anticipating what is coming up, you'll save fuel by starting to slow down early and not needing to come to a stop.
Tip 3: Gear Changing
Correct use of gears can make huge savings on your fuel bill of up to 15%! Make sure you change up into a higher gear as soon as its possible and safe to do so.
